Title : The effect of college
students' self-generated computerized mind mapping on their reading achievement
Author : Sabah Salman Sabbah
Review :
The study explored the effect of using computerized
students’ self-generated mind mapping on college students’ reading comprehension.
This study also investigated their attitudes towards generating these maps. The
researcher explained many details about computerized mind mapping in teaching
and learning of reading comprehension.
The
study followed a quasi-experimental design: pre–test, intervention, and
post-test. Convenience sampling was used to choose two ESL classes from the
population. Pre-posttest was used to identify the progress of students’ reading
achievement before and after intervention. A five-scale Likert questionnaire was
used to survey the experimental group opinions after using computerized mind
mapping.
The
data showed that there are statistically significant differences in the post
test due to experimental condition in favor of experimental group. The result
of questionnaire showed that using computerized mind mapping helped me to
identify the main ideas and the sub-ideas in a more attractive way.
